OCS-week 5
While at my friends house I decided to let her go grocery shopping while I stayed with her 3-year-old daughter plus my 3 boys. I felt like I was in a daycare. They were so excited to see each other. Problem is they were playing with a 3-year-old girl who didn’t like anyone touching her things. So on top of them playing with barbie dolls I had to watch them even more closely. Even with my watchful eye she still managed to grab my 1-year-old by both arms and fling him to the floor when he dared to put his hands on one of her purses. Let’s just say I calmly, but with a raised voice, sent her to her mother who was at this point in the kitchen preparing a meal for the children. I could tell by the look on her face she was wondering what in the world was going on being that 2 of the 4 kids were screaming and crying at the top of their lungs.
Our excursion to the Atl. was a nice getaway for the four of us. They got to see friends and family and I got to go shopping at some wholefoods stores like Trader Joes and Farmer’s Market. I plan on using some products I bought like virgin coconut oil, castille soap, vitamin E, and other natural products to make some bath and body products. Who knows, I may come out with my own line one day, but for now I’m focusing on my family’s skin care regimen.
The day to return home comes and Atlanta gets a nice little rain storm and is flooding in the south. One room in my uncle’s house had rain coming in through the window. He managed to catch the rain using a trashbag and a bucket. My inlaws live on a hill and were fortunate enough to miss the flood but others weren’t as fortunate. On my way to the interstate, I kept running into blocked off roads, flooded neighborhoods and car accidents. After two hours, we finally made it safely out of there and the difference with weather in the next city was like night and day. The Atlanta area was dark, wet, and gloomy while other towns were sunny and dry. Hopefully, the sun will come out soon so it can dry up those flood waters.
5 weeks down, 7 to go
Getting out alone can help release the tension that comes from caring for kids alone.
