OCS-Week 9
What a week, what a week. That’s all I can say. I was supposed to have another week to myself but the plans fell through due to my grandfather needing a ride to his doctor. My mother offered to take my grandfather, her father-in-law, to a doctor’s appointment but it was on a day she was supposed to be keeping the kids for me. I was going to stay home and just put the kids in daycare but I thought I’d get some time in with my mother. I should have gone with my first thought like I always try to do. Needless to say, the trip cost me about $227 in damage to my van and is going to cost more because now I am compelled to secure my vehicle before I return for another visit to my parent’s house.

I was packing to leave when some idiot in my parent’s neighborhood thought it would be a good idea to try to break into my van. My bad for leaving a couple of shopping bags only halfway hidden in the trunk. I should have left them in the house or hidden them completely so as not to tempt anyone who happens to be walking down someone elses driveway peeping in their windows. The windows are tinted and you really had to be searching to see them back there. As a matter of fact, since the van needs washing, I can see where they ran their fingers across the window possibly to see what was inside. They used some tool to break the glass on the passenger side but might have been scared off. Whatever the reason, they didn’t get in to steal anything.
The next day, another idiot ran smack into the back of my mother’s 2008 Honda Accord. Lucky for them I couldn’t see the license plate nor the make and model of the car. CRAP! It was too dark. My great aunt heard the noise too but instead of looking out the window to see what was going on she chose to stay in the bed. Who does that? Apparently, everyone in the whole neighborhood because nobody ever sees anything no matter what time of the day. I wanted so bad to jump in my van and at least get a license plate number but didn’t want to move it until the Safelite glass technician fixed it. Plus, that could have been a dangerous move with me being a female out at night by myself. But still, to have the chance to get a no good loser in trouble would have made my week.
I was able to do some detective work and track the vehicles path around the neighborhood due to some heavy fluid spillage. In the neighboring apartment complex I continued to follow the trail but the leaky car had since been moved. I plan on going back to see if the possible car is missing its front lights and damage to the license plate on the front. There are a few other bits and pieces of the car that were left behind when my mother’s car was hit so hopefully I’ll luck up and the fools will park the car where I can see it without looking obvious.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the previous idiot came back to do more damage to my van. They tried to steal my lug nuts. Who does that? They got two. I’m pretty sure I know who the culprit is. I saw a guy walking by really, really slow; looking at everyone’s house as he passed. Then when I got my glass fixed I saw him standing in someone’s yard staring at my glass. Not at me or the van itself, but the window that just so happened to have been broken the day before. You see, criminals are not very smart. They always return to the scene of the crime. I’m home now, safe and secure but I’ll be back in a couple of weeks with my new, locked lug nuts, car cover with a cable lock and my motion sensitive car alarm. Darn, I wish I could get an inexpensive taser to shock that joker with when I catch him in the act.
The highlight of my week has been talk to Darian everyday, several times a day whether by phone or internet chat. He’s in what they call the candi-o phase. He’s basically mentoring and supervising the new officer candidates. His supervision is now limited but he still has a lot of responsibility being what I am going to call a mentor. In just a couple of weeks I will be flying to Rhode Island to bring my man home. I can’t wait and neither can the kids.
9 weeks down, 3 to go!!
Keep smiling and laughing because things could be worse.
